its working again lol
I updated the docker image and still getting this error . It’s been a few days like this.
Seems like some people are having issues while others aren’t, maybe it’s just a game of IP tag.
They’ve been doing it for a while. Since June of last year or something. They have ipv6 rotation tools to get around it now. But youtube is basically ip banning instances.
Its fixed now
Invidious uses scraping instead of the official Youtube API, so this is expected to happen from time to time…
Google is going to keep finding ways to break these front-ends as they search for ways other than ads to monetize their services. I fully expect they will eventually lockout the public API so only the official app can use it in that quest as well. In my opinion the front-ends are just a bandaid and the real solution is something other than YouTube completely, if that is even possible at this point.
All of the front-end solutions are telling Google is that people want that content and they will come to YouTube for it one way or the other, Google just needs to figure out how to force people down the workflow that gets them the most money.
Invidious does not rely on the api, its a scraper
Wasn’t talking about Invidious with that bit of my comment as I am aware they don’t use the api. I meant for things that do use the api.
Peertube?
The only actual solution is switching to open/public infrastructures.
Nothing else is an actual solution.
That would be a really fast way for me to stop spending any of my time on youtube I guess.
They’d be doing me a huge favor if they go aheadwith this plan.
It does seem like they moved their focus away from ublockO to focus on the front ends, though. While I can’t use invidious, I can use regular ol’ YT with UblockO activated and I’m not constantly having to fight and wait for an update.
I think it’s funny those pricks are fighting a multi front battle that they’re clearly losing lol
Hopefully it gets sorted out soon. I wish if I HAD to pay money for youtube I could do it in a way thats data respecting.
It’s already fixed with the March 31st release. Some instances are just not updated yet.
Lol, nice.
They broke everything even revanced, had to scour for a new patch since only newpipe still worked but I can’t access the watch later playlist on it.
The moment I notived revanced has stopped working for me a new version was already available that worked. I guess ot might’ve been a staged rollout?
Yup. I had to patch 19.09.37 and I’m back to working. Also microG 0.3.1.3.240913.
Revanced has been crashing for me every single time I try to patch something, is that why? 🤔 I was gonna submit a bug report tomorrow.
I had installation issues after patching is that your issue?
Nah for me it just crashes as soon as I tap the patch button…
I believe you can run the patcher on desktop with the revanced-cli. Or you can just download the pre-patched YouTube here: https://github.com/revanced-apks/build-apps/releases , though I recommend patching it yourself instead of downloading apk from a source not affiliated with revanced team.
Yeah, I’ll have to look into it later… For now I guess this pre-patched apk might do, thanks :)
Yeah, try this out.
Copy text repost here
So I have seen a lot of people having these issues and the any Video you click redirects to a YouTube Help Video saying something like “This video isn’t supported on this app”. This now has happened to me but I was able workaround it.
I have the solution for you
Go to your Revanced Extended settings and go to miscellaneous. Export your settings in both .txt and as a file just to be sure. (this might still not work to import it into the new app. So if have any special settings maybe take a screenshot or a Video)
Then you can delete all the cache and app data of both YouTube Extended and the Vanced MicroG app and uninstall.
Go to your RVX Manager > Settings > Sources and enter it as it shows on the screenshot I provided. (don’t worry, once inotia is back you can just reset this back to default)
Restart the Manager and do the usual.
Go to patch, tap on the recommeded version and download it. Then go back to patch on your RVX Manager and tap on storage on the bottom right and choose the version you just downloaded and patch it.
When done patching and installing after opening the app it’ll tell you to that microG is missing and it’ll redirect you to the supported GMScore site. Download and install it log back in to your Google account and go back to Import your settings (hopefully it works for you) AAAAND YOU’RE DONE. This worked for me and since I still see so many people looking for a solution I thought I’d share how I made it work again. Just to be clear, this app will still look and work like Revanced Extended but in it’s core it now is YouTube Advanced and it works perfectly.
Dont know about you, but i had to reset my phone and it fixed a lot of the issues i was having.
What happened revanced?
Spoofing app version stopped working. Luckily if you simply patched a newer version it still works correctly.
Too late, one small change and it works. Just some params.
Remember when you didn’t have to red queen your hacker shit to watch funny videos?
God I feel old. I’m so sick of this shit.
The change the Youtube front end code now and then, breaking yt-dlp temporarily until someone checks in a patch.
NewPipe still works
When i noticed i checked the github to see there was an active bug report.
24 hours later they where talking about a fix that was on its way.
I updated this morning and all is well.
Okay but imagine if you didn’t have all this wasted oppositional bullshit, and we just built open architectures.
It seems clear they don’t want us using their site with videos.
I think publishing video files on the Web is not some unique know-how.
By the way, neither is search, neither are ratings.
And “being in the same space” with the rest of the world is an illusion due to the way recommendations work there. I mean, it’s sufficient to look at the views counter under a video and combine it with some other numbers to realize this.
Freedom is so close. It’s not in defeating the network effect, it’s in realizing that it’s fucking useless in anything but scaring us away from leaving trap spaces.
You say this- many people do but no one has made an alternative? So no it isn’t easy to make a video streaming site. Everyone just say “it’s too popular” that it has the entire audience but no, there just isn’t any good alternative anywhere. People don’t get how fast everyone would switch and how little anyone would look back if there was just any good alternative. Make one! Stop saying it’s easy and make one! You figure out how to stream consistently and have these response times and these peripheral functions if it’s so easy! It’s not easy. They obviously have a superior product and is now enshittening it so they can milk money from it
but no one has made an alternative? So no it isn’t easy to make a video streaming site.
This and all your further smartassery would be funny if the Web weren’t full of alternatives which technically work just as good or just as bad, just don’t have the network effect.
Make one! Stop saying it’s easy and make one! You figure out how to stream consistently and have these response times and these peripheral functions if it’s so easy!
I don’t think somebody saying that something is not needed should provide an implementation to support their words.
Also I think something like Lemmy + BitTorrent support in browsers would solve the problem. It’s actually funny that you still can’t just use HTML5 video tag with a magnet link.
No they all suck
Like a whole fucking lot
And yes a torrent protocol for streaming media is a great idea but how. How do you seed so fast during watch, how does this not suck so much more than having local servers have your most likely to watch videos cached and ready like they do? It’s a very hard problem to make a product that can offer what they offer. And they abuse that fact
What are you even talking about?
I’ll need more specific questions.
All of it. Those word were English, but put together in no way that made actual sense.
Well, first, judging by the amount of likes\dislikes, it may have made sense for some of the people who read it. So maybe you should ask yourself whether you not understanding something is closer to being your problem or my problem.
It seems clear they don’t want us using their site with videos.
Google makes it unpleasant using YT for a part of its users. It’s clear they don’t want that part (us).
I think publishing video files on the Web is not some unique know-how.
Serving files over HTTP is not something only Google can do.
By the way, neither is search, neither are ratings.
I think you understood this sentence.
And “being in the same space” with the rest of the world is an illusion due to the way recommendations work there. I mean, it’s sufficient to look at the views counter under a video and combine it with some other numbers to realize this.
This is in response to some unsaid thing like “but everyone uses YT” with the implication that on big platforms people are all in the same space. In fact you’ll never “meet” some people there simply because of how recommendations work.
Freedom is so close. It’s not in defeating the network effect, it’s in realizing that it’s fucking useless in anything but scaring us away from leaving trap spaces.
I think this is easier to understand now.
Seems like something like Gray Jay is a very easy way to transition off of these sources, too. Just have a source agnostic player.
From what I see it still means using YouTube for people transitioning from it, just via its API or scraping or something.
I meant that there’s no need to be afraid of losing YT.
But still getting off of YouTube as the source, right?
Do I understand you correctly?
I meant that it’s unnecessary to use YouTube in any capacity.
The reason I like Gray Jay is that it is source agnostic, so you can still use YouTube (because that is where the content is now) while also using other sources.
I would like to see videos posted to ipfs.
Not sure if it’s related, but my youtube revanced installation is also not working. I had to repatch again using the most recent patch.
Same, except it hasn’t worked since. I’ll get like 30 seconds in and it’ll buffer indefinitely
I force closed the app from settings and then that went away. I didn’t mess with anything else.
Same here, I was getting frustrated thinking, I had to root my phone or smth. and then a simple force close helped.
Did you install their new version of MicroG?
If you did, you have to turn off “Google Device Registration” in the MicroG settings to stop it from buffering indefinitely.
This was happening to me until I repatched and reinstalled the app. I didn’t change anything between installs so I’m not sure what happened.
Reboot your phone
It says that Piped is affected as well. This is probably a dumb question from me, but I use NewPipe in my phone to access YT - and it did not cause any trouble yet. I heard that the Piped project also uses NewPipe Extractor under the hood (which basically scrapes YT website). So why would Piped break but not NewPipe ?
