    Perez…

Not the time to be beaching the car when there are rumors of you being axed mid-season.

Three brits on top of quali for the first time since 1968, and first time in Silverstone ever…

We truly are in a british age of F1

Perez is having a horrid season. Parking it in the gravel in Q1 is illustrative for how his season is going.

Three Brits at the top right now.

Considering the floor damage, Max is still doing pretty well.

    Hulk also doing great.

Do sky have special sources from the teams¿? The f1tv commentary still aren’t confirming that max has damage. How are sky so sure¿?

There was a clear camera shot of a chip missing from the front of one of the fins on the underside of the floor.

Journalists are in Whatsapp broadcast groups handled by the teams. RBR press officer sent a message into his group confirming the floor damage.

Not just a Sky thing, quite a few F1 journos are in those groups.

Well they would need someone to look at WhatsApp during commentary, easily possible that the F1TV team felt too busy to do that

I think you’re allowed to repair/swap components as long as they’re identical spec. No setup changes, but they should be able to put in a new one.

Doesn’t read like it to me

          40 PRE-SPRINT AND PRE-RACE PARC FERME

40.2 […] the following work may be carried out:

          g) Repair of genuine accident damage, defined as any of the following:

iii) Damage incurred whilst off track limits, which also result in significant loss of lap time or a lap time which is deleted by the Race Director.

I don’t understand how or why approval would’ve been needed, unless Red Bull asked just to be safe?

The damage should’ve been covered under normally allowed repairs during parc ferme rules:

I’ll agree g iii could fit. If it was an out lap, or if he went into the pits at the end of the lap, the time wouldn’t have been deleted, and although time was lost, was it “significant”?

And 40.3 specifies for repairs not covered in 40.2. So no harm in asking anyway, certainly better than a DQ.

The day I understand the FiA will be the day I know I’ve lost it.

You’re definitely right that there’s no harm in asking compared to a DQ.

No, actually. After the post-qualification inspections, teams can replace damaged parts like-for-like with parts that are undamaged.

RBR does not have an identical floor as far as they have said before the weekend. They only have this one.

No, they have 3,5 hours to repair it.

After the qualifying session ends on Saturday night, there will be a period of three and a half hours when the team are allowed to inspect, repair, and ensure that the racing cars are prepared for the upcoming race.

Damage is often allowed to be repaired without breaking parc ferme. I just don’t know the limits.
