I think it’s more that the class lines are more distinct.
The more wealth inequality exists, the more people are going to evaluate wealth/earnings when finding someone to spend their life with.
Like, you could pick anything from that period and draw the same correlation.
But what makes since is wealth inequality is kind of a death spiral for a society.
It’ll continue to get worse unless we make some big fundamental changes
