There are basically two types of files. Text files and binary files.

Most information are stored in text files so humans can easily understand it, and it’s easier to find errors, review, parse. But text storage takes more space than binary files. And many complicated softwares normally need multiple text files or data files, many of them just store them together as a zip file so that it’s easier to handle. Examples are .docx,.pptx, etc files in MS Office, try unzipping them and see what they contain. Zipping also has advantages of reducing file sizes.

That depends on what video player you use. Of we have control of that, then sure it works. I use mpv to play things, so for radio streams or live videos I can go back/forward as long as it’s cached.

But if it’s the web service, even though the browser video player has something cached, the player is still controlled by the website. And considering most of the people use chrome/chromium derivatives or YouTube app, it wouldn’t be hard for them to make it so that the player itself will collaborate with whatever they want to do.

If YouTube was a separate organization it wouldn’t have been the problem it is because of how Google has been taking over all the different parts they need for advertising.

Now think, patents are similar things but for with more money. And imagine if someone else had similar idea and made slightly similar website you go sue them coz you had the idea first.

He did not have to provide lifelong project and work on it. He just needed to donate his money and people in UN would have worked with that money. It’s not fun when you have to explain it. But basically it is based on the infinite multiverse theory. Since the multiverse splits whenever you make choices, in this case the program would spawn a large number of multiverses each with different combinations of those bits, which means at least one of them would have the exactly the combination we want. If the program destroys the multiverse it is in after it determines it is not correct, only reality that remains is the one with correct combination of bytes. Making it that we will get the code we want on the first try.

That seems like a wonderful function. Considering android support external mouse with cursors. I hope someone can make a FOSS version and put it in F-droid.

That’s another reason US tax system baffles me. Why does it make it so that workers have to pay taxes this way. In my country, salary have very small tax and it’s cut before the money comes into your account at all. So whatever money you egt is yours, there is no feeling of paying taxes at all. While employers will pay taxes and the taxes on profit is a lot more than tax on salary.

I personally think there’s not much point of tax on the salary, they’ll be spending it on other things, and whoever makes profit on that will pay the taxes on their profit. e.g. you get salary no tax, you buy clothes, vehicle, prepared food, etc. and those companies get your money, and they pay tax on profit, and then have expenses which is money that goes to other companies/people who again pay tax on profit, and their expenses goes somewhere else. All in the money is only taxed once, when there is profit. Unlike in every transaction.

I wouldn’t say that. For primitives yeah, day or two. But if you want to build a proper program, it’ll take time to get used to it. For my first few projects I just used clone everywhere. Passing by reference and managing lifetimes, specially when writing libraries is something that takes time to get used to. I still don’t feel confident.

Besides that I do like Rust though. Sometimes I feel like “just let me do that, C let’s me”, but I know it’s just adding safety where C wouldn’t care.
