No one should have open source access to destructive tech
I highly disagree, and regardless of my personal opinion this assertion is impossible to enforce anyways. It’s far too easy to create a gun or bomb (i.e. destructive tech) out of common materials and tools you find in a hardware store. Trying to supress any and all destructive would put us back to the stone age

Anyone who asks “why don’t you become a murder hobo if you don’t think there’s a hell?” is probably not a very functional being.
Funnily enough, this plays into a comment I made in a different thread that some people actually do behave like NPC’s
Do you get replies from anyone on Beehaw? Or is it only other people from lemmy.ee?
Beehaw defederates from most other instances. That means users on other instances can see and comment on their content, but the only users that can see those interactions are other users from the same instance.
Not really. Most money is actually just numbers on a spreadsheet. This is because loans actually create money in a virtual sense. If you want to reduce the money supply, a better approach is to up interest rates, which encourages people and companies to reduce how many loans they take and pay off the ones they have.
And yes, this is what the Biden administration did to reduce inflation, and it worked. At the start of his term it was over 8%, and at the end it was under 4%.
Unfortunately, people don’t understand that reduced inflation doesn’t mean reduced prices. It just means the prices don’t go up as fast. They also don’t understand that negative inflation, i.e. prices going down, is actually terrible for an economy since everyone is then encouraged to spend as little as possible, reducing cash flow
They’ll take any extra taxes gained and put it into the military budget
Trump is actually trying to cut the military budget too. Which is actually problematic because we have a lot of equipment (particularly aircraft) that is aging out and we already can’t develop and/or manufacture replacements fast enough
Even Exploding.Heads?
We kinda had that on Lemmy until Hexbear decided to federate with Lemmy.World.
Also, I think Beehaw.org doesn’t federate with anyone, but it’s been awhile since I last checked
While there’s some awesome, creative, and intelligent people out there, I still run into a concerning number of people who do, in fact, act like NPCs
They’ve always been separate services, but up until about a year ago you could either get Nebula by itself, or bundled with CuriosityStream. Then theybwent their separate ways, around the same time that CuriosityStream more than doubled its yearly subscription price
DropOut won’t load on my browser, even with my VPN turned off
I originally dropped Nebula due to them allowing the channel “Second Thought” on the service.
While this particular creator may have been good in the beginning, over the years they have devolved into a source of tankie propaganda. The first video I saw from their channel was titled “Alternatives to capitalism”, which I had hoped would go through a few alternatives and list out pros, cons, and history. Instead, the video was summed up as “Amerikkka bad and therefore capitalism bad”, with 0 mention of any actual alternatives to capitalism as an economic system. Going through more videos showed that this was par for the course.
I was disappointed that Nebula would allow this creator on their platform, as they advertise themselves as a hub of educational video content. Thankfully, Second Thought had a very angry falling out with Nebula over Second Thought’s celebration of Hamas’s attacks on Israel. To clarify, they were supporting Hamas, not Palestine.
Recently I’ve started other Youtubers that have joined the platform. Combining that with Second Thought leaving is making me seriously consider signing up again.
I doubt this. Atheists (myself included) often get the frustrating question of “what stops you from harming people if you don’t believe in Hell?” when people learn about our lack of faith.
Many of them think that promises of reward and punishment are the only thing ensuring that people act morally.
If you’ve ever talked to a religious conservative American, many of them believe that religion, particularly Christianity, has a monopoly of defining what morality is.
This. ALL of this. I hate the story of Job because it just encourages people to accept abuse.
Unfortunately, this plays into why Christianity spread so far to start with. Storues like this reinforce class dynamics, which means ruling classes around the world want to implement them, and since they have more political power they have that ability.
This is a large part of why the vikings moved away from paganism to Christianity. It simply benefitted the rulers, from chiefs to kings. So they eventually forced their people to switch under threat of execution.
My only point of contention with unfolding the phone to browse the internet is that you have all tabs in front of you, not just the tabs in the tab group. Granted, this is mainly an issue for Chromium browsers, but it’s still annoying
I like my zfold 6, but the main downside is that it’s made by Samsung. They’ve switched to a locked down bootloader over the past few years and you can’t get GrapheneOS or LineageOS to run on it.
Because of this, once software updates stop being supported by Samsung, the phone increasingly become a security liability. Meanwhile my old S10e does support these 3rd party OS’s so I can theoretically keep using it safely for several more years
A lot of people who are moving away from Proton due to the recent controversy are switching to Tuta
Sea of Stars added co-op for up to 3 players in a recent update.
Also, Broforce is 1-4 players
