I was a gravely mentally ill far-right Catholic theocrat here in Brazil. Mental illness (clearly connected with obscurantist conspiracy theories) took me from extraordinary academic performance to great failure. In about 2009 many things converged to dramatically improve my mental health and start a slow leftwards conversion. It accelerated in 2017 when I met Anahuac, a free software militant and communist. The common cause (software freedom) helped pierce my anticommunist indoctrination. It accelerated further in 2025 with Lemmy and a fellow Brazilian engineer who is a PCBR comrade.

Within the last few months I have watched many communist and anti-imperialist videos, listed to the great Communist Manifesto (in audio book form) over and over again, formed a small online group for fellow communist (and sympathizers) engineers, and defend communism with enough energy to be called a CPC propagandist – although my arguments have also been strongly praised by several people, including fellow communists, center-leftists and even conservatives. I am now looking to buy The German Ideology. I am still on Lula’s Workers Party (accused of neoliberalism), but when I have enough knowledge, I will decide between trying to radicalize the Worker’s Party from within or joining an openly communist party.

I now I follow a much more authentic line of Catholicism. I am a fan of Pope Francis, who has made good progress in the Holy See (“Vatican”), although not nearly enough.

For individuals and families who so choose I support authentic Christianity, with due separation of Church and State and friendship with people of other religions such as our Muslim brothers and sisters. For the State, definitely communism!

What about buying Vietnamese? Is Vietnam comparable to the PRC in terms of socialist model? Should we favor it as much as the PRC?

Voting with your dollars is not very effective and we should not put great hope in it, but still I definitely prefer Brazilian first (I am Brazilian) and Chinese second. The PRC is a model for the world.

Your commitment to privacy and software freedom (being a Lemmy dev) are big positive signs to me. The working class cannot organise when Big Brother is always watching and advertisers (including political propagandists like Cambridge Analytica) use AI to individually manipulate us.

• Inspiring my individual and familiar decisions
• Communicating with fellow Christians. A significant majority of Brazil is Christian, especially the workers.
