Sounds typical. Pretend to care while gov is standing on their necks. Forget about it as soon as they turn around.

…I mean for the bulk of apps, sure. For email though?
The quality of Reddit has been declining for the last ~5 years. Even if you ignore all the shady shit Reddit themselves have done, the platform has been declining due to simple popularity. Simple-brained people joining and upvoting memes and reposts and fucking TikToks. There’s also just the toxicity of society in general. There used to be honest discussions and nuance and input from industry experts. Now it’s incredibly corporate, and hardcore liberal, and full of the same toxicity as Twitter.
It used to be mostly Libertarians and Atheists, kinda like how Lemmy is all sysadmins and Linux enthusiasts.
Some of it will stay. Most of it will go. That’s how fads work.
If you want to argue about their centralized nature, we can, and I will agree, but that’s not what we were discussing.
Saying it’s not a fad is rather ignorant. Sure it has practical uses but it’s also being shoved into literally everything, even if purely by name, with little to no actual improvement.
…do you really think they’ve spent all this time creating a new browser that just has a setting enabled?
I’ve never seen more hype around anything in my life than AI. This is so wild. Can’t wait for this fad to die.
No you can’t.
That’s what I was referring to about versatility
No they can’t. Signal has and will pull out of countries before caving to that.
Pretty much all browsers are. Unfortunately Chrome holds the vast majority of users and websites are built for Chrome (and Safari but I’m sure as fuck not throwing buckets at Apple for their disposable and proprietary trash).
Don’t really need to read it.
tl;dr ad-blockers are built into the browser itself so MV3 has no adverse effect on it.
The only company that can acquire Signal is another non-profit.
What are the privacy implications of adopting RCS?
RCS is not encrypted. At least the non-Google version isn’t. I think Apple is working on that with the GSMA or whatever they’re called.
So, Signal > iMessage > RCS > Telegram > WhatsApp > SMS
Is there any other apps that have RCS support on Android other than Google’s own messaging app?
I think Samsung. But then you need a Samsung, which is its own problem.
Otherwise no, but there may be more soon since it’s being adopted by Apple.
I think most of us moved on to x86 by now.
Price of ARM chips has gone up. Price of x86 has come down. x86 comes with a small energy penalty for a huge boost in speed. Also just a more versatile architecture, since most servers run x86.
Get an app that does one thing very well rather than a mega app that tries to do everything.
I agree. I am not a fan of Nextcloud. Moved to OwnCloud a while back. No ragrets.
You’re literally lying about how default settings work. Everyone knows how they work. Who do you think you’re fooling with your bad lying? ROFLCOPTER
Yeah I have to strongly disagree.
Which is why Proton’s notifications have been encrypted for years.
