I found Kreia’s “nuance” tedious. I help someone and she’s all “but if you force them to help themselves they’ll be stronger”. Shut up space Ayn Rand
If believing genocide is unjustifiable means you’re a tankie, guess I’m a tankie.
Biden is just kind of apologetically supporting them because he’s a weak leader that can’t afford to rock the boat … If Biden actually wins the election, he may actually end American support
No, he is ideologically committed to supporting Israel. He has said this multiple times and I see no reason to disbelieve him. I think it’s equally likely Trump would stop supporting Israel because of America First/antisemitism, which is to say, so unlikely as to be impossible.

100%. You are not the problem, the problem is the government and its corporate controllers who decided to just let it run rampant.
Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
A billionaire who is 61 is very likely to outlive 75, even if they’re fat.

In March, the former president won enough primary races to secure the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
However, according to a survey of 1,003 Americans by Canadian polling firm Leger, Trump does not command the full support of his base and 33 percent of this demographic would have preferred another politician.
Another way of writing that 33 percent prefer another politician is that 67 percent prefer Trump. Last I checked, 67 percent support is enough to secure the Republican nomination.
Meanwhile, this proportion is higher (47 percent) among Republican voters aged 18 to 34 years old.
Again, another way of writing this is that 53 percent of Republican voters aged 18 to 34 years old support Trump. I’ll double check my arithmetic, but even this seems to be enough to win primaries.
With a title like “One in three Republicans now think Donald Trump was wrong candidate choice,” I would expect to see a poll which showed that fewer than “One in three Republicans” used to “think Donald Trump was wrong candidate choice.” That seems like a straightforward way to make the point this article is trying to make. Yet none is provided. Instead we are treated to some general electorate polling showing some minor fluctuation and some republicans who were already critical of Trump continuing to be critical of Trump.
The centrist will to make the Republicans look better than they are is so powerful.
Well obviously presidential felony convictions aren’t. But election fraud? Sure, republicans have been claiming that to some degree or other for a long time. See for example the false claims that Trump would have won the popular vote if it weren’t for undocumented immigrants voting en masse.
In any case, the specific claim I was making was that calls for civil war on social media are routine. Maybe they’re more serious this time! But maybe look for concrete plans rather than vague threats.
One thing to note is that Republicans have been talking like this for years. Minion Death Cult (tagline “The World Is Ending. Your Uncle’s Facebook Feed Is Responsible. We’re Documenting it.”) have coined “Minion’s Law”, which is that right-wing comments on a news story will have at least one person calling for civil war.
Does this mean we are at zero risk for a second civil war? Of course not. But finding people online calling for civil war isn’t sufficient cause to be worried; there needs to be at least some evidence of mobilization, as there was leading up to January 6th (for instance).
“Tankies” tend to use the term liberal in the classical sense, which lumps conservatives in with progressives.
I don’t know if you’ve tried Kate, but it does most of this. It can act as an IDE, but it’s first and foremost a text editor, which is similar to Notepad++ (iirc, it’s been a while). The toughest requirement to meet would be
-User created language rules and formatting (An example use case is a personal path of exile’s loot filter) … without too much of a learning curve
https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kate/katepart/highlight.html is the documentation for how you’d do that, and https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/syntax-highlighting/-/tree/master/data/syntax has all of the built-in syntax highlighters.
It also runs on Windows, so you can give it a spin and see what you think. It’s unfortunate that NP++ is tied so directly to Windows APIs, but I wonder how hard it would be to use winelib to make a decent Linux version.

From the Order of 20 March 2024:
4. The State of Israel shall take immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance to address famine and starvation and the adverse conditions of life faced by Palestinians in Gaza, by:
(a) immediately suspending its military operations in Gaza;
(b) lifting its blockade of Gaza;
(c) rescinding all other existing measures and practices that directly or indirectly have the effect of obstructing the access of Palestinians in Gaza to humanitarian assistance and basic services; and
(d) ensuring the provision of adequate and sufficient food, water, fuel, shelter, clothing, hygiene and sanitation requirements, alongside medical assistance, including medical supplies and support.
Despite media claims, the ICJ already ruled to halt the Gaza genocide:
The State of Israel shall, in accordance with its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, in relation to the Palestinian people as a group protected by the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, desist from the commission of any and all acts within the scope of Article II of the Convention, in particular:
(a) killing members of the group;
(b) causing serious bodily or mental harm to the members of the group;
(c) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; and
(d) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.
It’s hard to imagine how they could continue the Gaza “fighting” and “desist from … killing members of the group”.
What features from Notepad++ are you wanting in an editor?
IMO, the admission is different but perhaps worse. What he’s saying is that the US and its allies should be immune to the ICC in all cases.
That’s so great, I’m happy for you!
