THE FINALS: Season 4 Power Shift - #45 Worldwide
No. Fuck you for asking, Bradley Bartell.
Rick & Morty for me. I thought it’s a funny show, at least the first couple seasons I watched of it. I stopped watching it because of how obnoxious the fans are, actually ruining the show for me. It got to a point where I’d watch an episode, hear a joke get repeated, and think to myself “Oh great, this will be the line that I hear everybody saying for the next six months”, to the extent that I get distracted by my own annoyance. Now I have this mental association with the show and the fans and I just can’t stand to watch it anymore.
This was all before the shit with Roiland came out, for what it’s worth. But that’s another reason I struggle to enjoy the show anymore.
What exactly makes this method “legal” compared to other DRM-stripping processes? As far as I can tell, it’s the same thing as “illegal” DRM-stripping methods, just done manually.
Google Now and Google Inbox were legitimately some of the most useful products any tech company has released. They were such game-changers, and I’ll never stop being angry about their cancellation.
I wouldn’t mind it, if it could do the basic things I need an assistant to do. When they first started pushing Gemini, I couldn’t even get it to do simple things like send a text or a set a reminder. I’m sure it’s gotten better since then, but just immediately failing at what I would consider the bare minimum really soured Gemini for me. Still haven’t reinstalled it, counting down the days until Google forces it on me.
A plane can’t stop flying without hitting the ground
Totally unrelated to the thread, but this reminded me of Special To Hollywood, a really interesting short radio play from the 40s, about a plane that mysteriously becomes suspended in the air while the passengers and crew freak out trying to comprehend what’s happening. It’s a sort of surrealist horror story that I think was actually pretty ahead of its time.
Somehow, as a kid I ended up with a collection of cassette tapes of these Lights Out radio shows. They were all pretty basic, Twilight Zone-y stories, but this one always stood out to me. You made me remember that, so I just wanted to share this weird little story.
Dude, I don’t even want to fly on a fully-manned flight with the way these planes are dropping out of the sky these days.
I assume that this is using a highly-curated, custom model, and not some off-the-shelf GPT that just anybody can use, so it probably won’t be suggesting that patients eat glue or anything crazy.
From what I can tell, it sounds like this is actually a fairly valid use for a chatbot, handling a lot of the tedious tasks that nurses are charged with. Most of what it seems to be doing, any untrained receptionist could also do (like scheduling appointments or reading dosage instructions), so this would free up nurses for actually important tasks like administering medications and triaging patients. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to be issuing prescriptions or anything where real judgement would be necessary.
As long as hospital staff are realistic about what tasks the chatbot should handle, this actually seems like a pretty decent place to implement a (properly-tuned) LLM.
The leopards are eating good tonight.
My patched RIF stopped working just about a week or two ago. I keep getting the “blocked by security” message even after clearing all my data and logging back in again.
Make them trade places.
“I got mine”, he thought.
Ah yes, the Electric Amish.
OP acting like he seriously doesn’t own a shirt with a logo on it.
I think that’s largely because he wants to make his channel as kid-friendly as possible. If you watch some of his real early videos, he has a much calmer, more lecture-like demeanor without all the goofy edits and other modern YouTube tropes.
His other big business venture is a subscription box for kids, which I think it aimed for around 8-13 year olds, so I imagine he’s adopted his current personality to try to appeal to that audience.
Mark Rober is what you get when you cross veritasium with Mr beast.
I hate that this makes as much sense as it does.
It’s a kind of “side” mode in The Finals, which is an FPS game. In Power Shift, 2 teams of 5 try to push a floating platform from the center of the arena into their opponent’s base, in a sort of reverse tug-of-war battle. As the platform traverses the arena, it effortlessly demolishes all structures in its path, so the destruction and chaos are cranked to 11.
It’s sort of similar to “payload” type objectives in some other FPS games like Overwatch or TF2, but instead of teams taking turns, they’re both pushing against each other with the same payload. It’s a ton of fun!
My hobby has a leaderboard, so for better or for worse, I know exactly how good I am at it. Currently sitting around the top 0.01% of Power Shift players in The Finals, down from top 0.001% last season. Part of me hates knowing this, because I tend to obsess over it. But another part of me loves it because I never get to gloat about anything in life, so it’s fun to brag once in a while.
