Huge money saver by making own certain scratch pads etc… Just gotta attach this to a round and heavy piece of plank and voila! Reletvily easy to do and the rope is cheap as chips!
And your cat will be like: “Yeah, cool, anyway, I’ll still use your furniture.” Good job on the DIY :)
I’ve found it’s quite effective to cover stuff you don’t want scratched with something that isn’t nice to scratch.
Once the cat forms the habit of scratching the right stuff, you can uncover your furniture, and at least with my cat, the habit has stuck. Only goes for the stuff that’s allowed, now.
I had great success with double sided packing tape. A few strips where the cat liked to claw and a nearby scratching post completely eliminated scratching where they weren’t supposed to.
Hahaha yeah hopefully not 😅 This is the first on multiple, also got a scratch tower and a scractable carpet. So hopefully that will be enough.
“Cheap as chips”
Is this British slang? I like it.
I also like chips. (Both kinds)
Indeed, one of my favourite sayings!
Lol if fish and chips pricing keeps increasing, as I’ve heard they are, the saying may become less popular.
I’m working on redoing the scratched-to-pieces one we have now. Any particular tips you wanna share? I’ve got all the materials, just haven’t gotten started yet.
Personally been steering away from any sort of glue behind the rope, I know some do use it. Wouldn’t want my cat to be gnarling away on any potential glue, so I stick with tying the rope properly so it’s stuck in place 👌
Does it take a while to tie it properly or is there a trick to it? I’ve thought about doing this before.
