New around here? Want to introduce yourself? Here’s a thread! Or if that whole practice makes you want to disappear, uh…Make someone up, or introduce your pet instead!
Whatever floats your boat, and hey, if you have a boat, introduce that boat!
Oh, and before I forget (again), I’ve written a relatively brief FAQ to help folks find their way around here.
Hello. I’m a a Reddit refugee, I mostly lurked though. I’m in my mid 20s. Here are my birds.
Hello world.
I mostly do tabletop hobby projects, I’ve got both a huge backlog to post and some new stuff coming up. I also do generally creative projects including worldbuilding a little scifi space adventure universe that I started way back when I needed to keep myself sane at work.
I’m here to add as much original content as I can for quality.
Hello! I’m 58 from Missouri and I just signed up here tonight. I’m fairly techy. I remember connecting to various BBS while in school with my 24k modem on my Tandy 1000 from Radio Shack. But this is all a bit overwhelming and a little confusing. I’m committed to getting the hang of it all and ditching the other place. Picture of my dog that likes to sit on rocks.
I honestly miss all the local BBSs and FIDOnet. Life was much simpler.
Oh hey there. Reddit user of 9 years, migrating for obvious reasons. Just want to introduce my little community, if any of y’all enjoy playing old-school forum games:
I’m really liking the friendly vibe here and hope it continues as the community grows!
Hello. Was on Reddit for 10 years and been here six days now. I’m here mostly for science, news, fiction, games and finding new stuff. Got over the urge to look at Reddit already, but am taking this new poison. The fediverse with its different instances gives a feeling of smaller communities comming together which is both true and nice.
Hello! I’m also from Reddit, for like 11yrs. I usually don’t post anything online ever, but I am going to try to contribute here sometimes. :) My hobbies/interests are anything Pokémon, arts and crafts, reading, TV, gaming, cats, cooking, plants, Critical Role and paranormal/true crime podcasts. I have 2 doofy cats, Loki and Xandis. Currently, I am super duper excited for Baldur’s Gate 3! Also excited to make hopefully the best potato salad I’ve ever made tomorrow.
Any suggestions for paranormal podcasts?
Yess! :) Astonishing Legends is what really got me into paranormal podcasts! They have good host chemistry, it’s fun to listen to them. They go on tangents a lot. Highly recommend the Mothman, Black Eyed Kids and Vertical Plane episodes! And That’s Why We Drink is fun, it’s a couple of friends, one tells a paranormal story, one tells a true crime story. This Paranormal Life is sillier, they take turns telling each other paranormal stories, then they vote on whether they think it’s real or not. Haunted Road - host tells a story about a place, then speaks to someone who works there and they discuss what they’ve experienced there, or what guests have experienced. Scared To Death - a couple tell each other scary stories, and try to scare each other. Spooked - different people telling their paranormal stories every episode. This one is usually really well made, the stories are really interesting! Used to be mostly a premium subscription podcast, but is now free!
Thanks! <madly scribbling on the podcast list>
I know And That’s Why We Drink and Haunted Road. They’ve gotten off the radar in a podcatcher move a couple of years ago. I’ll have to check out the others.
Do you ever catch The Ghost Story Guys or Unexplained? Wild Thing is also pretty good; it’s produced by a couple of former NPR reporter/producers. For true crime, what do you think of The Opportunist?
How’s the potato salad? ;)
Awesome! Haha, I haven’t heard of The Ghost Story Guys or The Opportunist, but I’m going to check them out! :) any episode recommendations? I do have Wild Thing in my subscribed podcasts, but I don’t know if I’ve listened yet, going to download some eps! It turned out great! Homemade mayo! :D
Season one of The Opportunist is a multipart documentary about a single person. It would be hard to make episode recommendations, although any of the one- and two-shot stories in the second season are good. The Ghost Story Guys best episodes are late season one and anything up to the end of 2020. In January 2021, one of the hosts was replaced and the show format became a lot looser and much longer.
Homemade mayo is the best! Especially if it’s made with bacon grease rather than another oil. :)
Awesome! :) I’m listening to the Gayle Palmer episodes now, very interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!
Oooh, I haven’t tried bacon grease before, that sounds amazing! Gotta put that on my to-do list, haha.
You’re welcome.
We found bacon grease mayo by accident when we discovered that there was no olive oil in the pantry. It’s one of the go-to versions now.
