Freedom House rates people’s access to political rights and civil liberties in 208 countries and territories through its annual Freedom in the World report. After looking at the stats, it seems Maori are rather fairly represented in terms of their population (25% in parliament vs 17% of general population), however the quality of life for Maori is still below that of other ethnicities in terms of health and life expectancy.
The current government is rather corrupt (seen through my viewpoint as a kiwi, not USA levels) and hasn’t done the Maori population any favours.
