Debate begins at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific and runs 90 minutes.
Vice Presidential debates are always tricky since nobody has voted for Vice President in living memory.
Expect Vance to attack Walz on his military service.
Expect Walz to attack Vance on the whole āimmigrants eating cats and dogsā thing.
Expect Vance to attack Walz on being an assistant coach, at best.
Expect Walz to roll out āWeird!ā at least once.
CBS has announced the burden of fact checking will be on the candidates themselves.

Walz seems really nice. And the VP doesnāt usually matter that much. But it sure would be nice if that was Buttigieg or Shapiro up there. Buttigieg loves sparring with Republicans. He is a great attack dog, but thats not really what Walzās role seems to be, and thatās OK, but considering the election is a coin flip, I just want every fraction of a percent of support Harris can get.
In this case the VP matters, because for all the āBiden is too oldā talk, trump is only a couple years younger, and he could easily drop dead during a next term, which would leave us with president Vance.
eta: and the reason Buttigieg or Shapiro werenāt chosen was because, according to reports, an extreme life colonoscopy was performed on anyone under consideration, because trumpās camp would also do that and capitalise on anything they found. Walz passed all those tests because heās squeaky clean. In this election, thatās pretty important. So far, that strategy has worked, and every straw trumpās team has grasped at has blown up in their face. Weāll soon see if this debate changes that (I doubt it).
