That takes 2/3 of congress still, doesnā€™t it? Mike Johnson wonā€™t ever let it near the floor.

The house requires a simple majority to impeach him. The senate conviction requires a 2/3ā€™s votes

      Source

In the process, ā€œimpeachmentā€ is really more like the ā€œindictmentā€ of a grand jury, where the house is the jury, and it just needs a majority.

Youā€™re right that Johnson wonā€™t let it go anywhereā€¦ but if those 4 jump shipā€¦ caucus with the demsā€¦ he wouldnā€™t have a say.

Donā€™t wake me. Itā€™s a lovely dream, okay?

And the assent of the speaker to even let it come to a vote. Which wonā€™t happen as long as the Jericho Johnson has the gavel.

Incorrect. The speaker has full dictatorial control of what comes up for a vote in the first place.

It could have 75% support and it still wouldnā€™t get past that fundie bastard.

If they flipped, and caucused with the dems as independentsā€¦ Johnson wouldnā€™t be speaker, now would he? Jeffries or whoever would be.

Itā€™s a pipe dream, but itā€™s such a very lovely pipe dream because itā€™s actually possible.

Oh yeah, missed that part somehow lol, sorry about that!

Jeffries might not let it go ahead either, though. Heā€™s quite right wing and EXTREMELY pro-corporate, so he may well have some owner donors in common with the six judicial disgraces šŸ¤·

I mean itā€™s possible, but weā€™re asking republicans to do the right thing here; and Iā€™m pretty sure they havenā€™t run out of other things to try yet, so, itā€™s gonna be a while.
