President Bidenās reelection campaign announced Monday that it will aim to flip Florida, targeting the home of former President Trump.
Campaign managerĀ Julie Chavez RodriguezĀ said in a memo that investing in Florida is part of the Biden campaignās pathway to 270 electoral votes. Trump won the Sunshine State in 2020 with more than 51 percent, compared to Bidenās 48 percent.
āMake no mistake: Florida is not an easy state to win, but it is a winnable one for President Biden, especially given Trumpās weak, cash-strapped campaign, and serious vulnerabilities within his coalition,ā she said.
ā¦
The Biden campaign has also set its sightsĀ on flipping North CarolinaĀ in November. Trump won North Carolina by a tight margin in 2020, and Biden visited the state as part of his tour of every battleground state last month.
Maybe, maybe not. DeSantis took 60% of the vote for Governor in 2022, but his approval has tanked since then and is now underwater. Democrats also flipped Florida House District 35 in a special election, which is rated an R+15 district (it votes 15 points more towards Republicans than the national average).
Combine that with empty coffers at the Republican party, and Trump taking over the party apparatus so it can fund his legal bills at the expense of all other races and even his own campaign. Theyāre severely off balance, and Democrats can pull a Jiu Jitsu move here by trying just a little in every single contest thatās even a bit contestable. Republicans wonāt have a fundraising answer to that. Doesnāt mean Democrats will win every seat, but it could be quite the flood.
Shouldnāt we assume his approval tanked because he dared challenge the Trumpanzeesā cult leader?
I hope it is a flood though, that would be a welcome surprise.
