Maybe not to all the population, but to certain segments (mainly Muslims and young progressives) who are key for Biden’s reelection. “People in real life” depends a lot on who you interact with, but the fact that there is a large number of potential voters who will sit out the election because of Gaza is undeniable.
Edit: Also Israel had tight control over Western public opinion so they’ve managed to avoid scrutiny for a long time, but there’s a decent amount of historical precedent for American people being very not okay with genocide (other than their own, anyway) and that affecting the country’s foreign policy.
