FormerĀ President TrumpĀ on Tuesday claimed Democrats āhate Israelā and that Jewish voters who back Democrats hate their religion amid tensions between the Biden administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump, speaking with conservative radio hostĀ Sebastian Gorka,Ā was asked why Democrats like Senate Majority LeaderĀ Chuck SchumerĀ (D-N.Y.) āhateā Netanyahu, a reference to SchumerāsĀ recent call for new electionsĀ in Israel.
āI actually think they hate Israel,ā Trump responded. āAnd the Democrat Party hates Israel.ā
And yet people are considering withholding votes for, or voting against Biden. As a Jew who believes in Israelās right to exist, I guess I now hate Israel and my Judaism. Itās okay. Self loathing is something most stereotypes declare weāre comfortable with at this point.
this is the complicated reality actual morality forces upon human life. Love and patriotism should include criticizing the bad choices, lest they devolve into jingoism and cults.
