I didn’t know the direction either, and went with it for about 50 hours.
Keep on keeping on.

Don’t be so serious ~ 🎵
Honestly the game is a masterpiece and I’ll come back some day to finish it. To me it felt like a transformative experience, especially because of what was happening in my life at the time, I got a new job in FinTech, COVID had just hit, everyone was afraid; I was in lockdown with new video game about the world ending.
Some people had Animal Crossing, I was covered in timefall, and checking my boots.
I also rebuilt the world for others to easily drive across - I don’t know if most knew the highway system is down when you get there and requires repair. Japan, dude.
I liked a lot about the game but eventually I just got bored with the tedious bits.
even though at certain points the story was so dumb it actually made me angry.
Hahahahahahaha!!! ME TOO! It was just so not subtle at times. The ending took FOREVER!!! Oh my GOD!
It was a great game, but I’m just glad it’s over.
As soon as I finished a road and realised I was just going to and down it to level up depots, I gave up.
I have played nearly all his games and I don’t understand his direction either. But it’s good. It’s weird how it can be super blunt and stupidly direct and sound like an edgy 14 year old’s idea of “cool” while also poignant and somehow deeper than what’s on the surface told through cheesy dialogue.
I had a great time with Death Stranding even though at certain points the story was so dumb it actually made me angry.
I just imagine Kojima trying to explain to Mads about time travel rain that makes you old and babies that are half dead that can sense the ghosts so that you don’t die because when you die you explode and that there are also lots of whales made out of goo and that Mads is a soldier but also a baby and then Norman Reedus–
All while Mads is wearing a mocap suit and nodding with a confused look. “So I stand here?”
“Yeah you stand there.”
Comedy gold.
